Technical Session: “Strategy and Competitiveness perspectives in the Metal-Mechanical Industry”

This working session took place on the 30th of November at IK4-AZTERLAN Metallurgical Research Center facilities, with an outstanding participation of companies from the metal-mechanical sector.

Coordinated by the Competitiveness Agency from Durangaldea and Azaro Fundazioa as part of the experience of the inter-regional collaboration carried out under the Lankidetzan Berritu program, the meeting has allowed participants to exchange very interesting experiences related to the strategies of different reference companies, oriented to the improvement of the competitiveness within the metal industry.

A brief introduction was done by Antón Gorriño (Coordinator of the Competitiveness Agency from Durangaldea), Ainhoa Arrizubieta (Azaro Fundazioa) and Borja Lastra (Innovation Service from the Bizkaia Council) sharing some initial thoughts on the importance of cooperation and innovation, as key tools for improving the competitiveness level of companies. After that, representatives of NAVACEL Process Industries S.A., GRUPO ETXETAR, EUSKALIT and IK4-AZTERLAN Metallurgical Research Center, have presented practical experiences of technological development linked to the Industry 4.0., product diversification and improvement in their value propositions to the market.

Experiences that have been very enriching from the practical point of view, together with the common analysis of some of the most important challenges that the metal-mechanical industry has to address in the closer future.
