The doctoral thesis of IK4-Azterlan researcher Maider Muro named finalist for the IV AIEM Awards

The thesis, a result of the collaboration between the Engineering School of Bilbao and the IK4-Metallurgy Research Centre, has been acknowledged during the XXII National Mechanical Engineering Congress.

The research work “Development of new generation tools for the improvement of dimensional and mechanical characteristics of hot-stamped components” defended by Ph.D. Maider Muro Larisgoitia, researcher at IK4-AZTERLAN, has been named a finalist for the IV AIEM Awards granted by the Spanish Society of Mechanical Engineering (Asociación Española de Ingeniería Mecánica) for the best doctoral thesis. Ph.D. Muro received the certifying diploma given during the gala dinner of the XXII National Mechanical Engineering Congress.

Directed by Prof. Dr. Mr. Carlos Angulo Duque and Prof. Dr. Mr. Antonio Gorriño Vicandi (from the Mechanical Engineering department of the University of the Basque Country), Maider’s research work was recognised with a distinction of Excellent Cum Laude by the evaluators. Muro belongs to the forming technologies team of the R&D of Metallurgical Processes area of IK4-Azterlan.

The great amount of works presented, as well as their high quality, highlight the scientific value of the thesis, that has successfully overcome all the previous disqualifying stages.
