IK4-AZTERLAN hosted the last EnergiBasque (Basque Energy Cluster) working meeting

Companies and innovation agents from the Basque Country shared examples and good practices aligned with the RIS3 energy strategy in order to encourage the generation of energy-related R&D projects.

Aimed at companies and agents linked to the energy sector, on December 5th the EnergiBasque working meeting was held at the IK4-AZTERLAN Metallurgy Research Centre. Organized by the Basque Energy Cluster with the support of Innobasque, the meeting pursued to raise awareness about the Basque RIS3 strategy through the participation of organizations such as the EVE (Basque Energy Agency), CIC-Energigune, IK4-IKERLAN, TECNALIA and IK4-AZTERLAN technology centres and companies like ALCORTA FORGING GROUP and TELUR GEOTERMIA Y AGUA.

The Basque Energy Cluster introduced the workshop sharing with the attendees the main objectives of EnergiBasque highlighting that this initiative aims "to make visible the work that is being performed around a country-level energy strategy, providing examples and good practices". In the same way, the EnergiBasque initiative wants to encourage the participation of companies in the generation of new R&D projects in the field of energy, aligned with the RIS3 strategy.

Up to date, "49 different research projects partially funded with public support have been implemented”. Some of these projects count with the active participation of IK4-AZTERLAN, such as RESLAG, EFFORT 4.0 or SUSPIRE projects. Indeed, these last two research initiatives were presented as positive case studies by the ALCORTA FORGING GROUP and by the company TELUR GEOTERMIA Y AGUA.

The event also hosted the presentation of the 2030 Energy Strategy from Euskadi pointing out that the main target pursued by this strategy is "to reduce energy consumption by 17%". In that direction, the improvement of energy efficiency rate was mentioned as a key aspect to work towards to achieve a more sustainable and competitive energetic model. Finally, the economic aid-framework (regional, state and European programs) for energy efficiency-oriented projects was shared with attendees.
