2nd Carl Loper Cast Iron Symposium

Cast-iron-sympoiumHonoring Dr. Carl R. Loper Jr., professor of many professors, the focus of this conference is to review the fundamentals of cast iron solidification and highlight the latest research, technology and developments in metallurgy, production and applications of the material.

Taking advantage of the 10th anniversary of the 1st Carl Loper Symposium held at Madison, Wisconsin (USA), the 2nd Carl Loper Symposium is being organized by Azterlan Metallurgy Research Centre, SPAIN, and includes Key Note invited and contributed papers from leading academic and industrial community.

This event will be hold every three years with the scope to disseminate the latest advances and applications of cast iron.

Preliminary Program Carl Loper Symposium

The theme selected for the 2nd Carl Loper Symposium “Latest advances and applications of cast iron”.

The members of the Scientific Committee are keen to invite papers that will appeal to the foundry industry as well as researchers, technicians, metallurgists and casting manufacturers, among others.

Abstracts must either be the report of an original research work, the detailed description of the latest knowledge within a specific field, or an industrial process engineering development. Their quality must be of interest for an international audience, both from the scientific and industrial fields.

Authors are allowed to submit more than one paper to the symposium. Papers are sought on the following working areas:

  • Cast Iron (spheroidal, lamellar and vermicular graphite cast iron, austempered ductile iron and alloyed irons).
  • Corrosion, environment and sustainability.
  • Foundry technologies, equipment, manufacturing, tools, robotics and automation.
  • Energy.
  • Advanced engineering: design, calculation and simulation tools.
  • Heat, cryogenic and surface treatments.
  • Moulding, core making and rapid prototyping technologies.
